Supporting Local – pt 2

Guess who’s back, back again, Judgey’s back, tell a friend, and subscribe to the blog because that’s only the right thing to do. Last time, in the Supporting Local series (until I find a clever name for it), we talked about Beast Time Fitness. Today, our focus is Apollo Legion. Apollo Legion made its debut last year and has pretty much taken the territory by storm. Created by jack-of-all-trades Charles Goodings Jr., A.K.A Pollo from right out of St. Croix, the clothing line features swimsuits, bodysuits, polo shirts, shorts, children’s apparel… Advertisements

Subscribe to my Youtube Channel! Local Lady Media The videos are below in two different formats. One is straight from the website and the other is youtube. The youtube version may or may not play due to Youtube’s nonsensical copyright system. Also, my camera hand isn’t shit and I sneezed so the video shakes a bit. I’m sorry! Forgive me! I didn’t plan to record, it just happened. In case you can’t see the Youtube Video

Active in April: What was I up to?

I learned this month that If I ever decided I wanted to be a socialite, or a celebrity then I would have my work cut out for me. I don’t know how they did it. A week of constantly having to look A-1 was draining. If you don’t know me by now, I’m a simple gal. I wear make-up here and there, and dress up now and again. For the most part, I’m simple to a T. Hell, if I can get away with a hoodie, jeans and a scarf on my head then that’s my attire. But earlier this month I wasn’t given that chance. There were mini events mixed in, but I had three events to attend that required me to look like I had some broughtupsy: Taste of St. Croix, VI Model of the year Red Party and the VI Model of the year competition itself. Yall, I can’t walk in heels. I can fake it till I make it in doses, but I am not runway model material. Thank the lord …

The importance of Self-love

How many times have you seen a post on this topic? I’m guessing, a lot, but that’s good because it’s something that needs to be repeated. (This post is for women, so if you’re a man reading this and get upset at the bottom, sorry not sorry). Dear ladies, we live in a world full of impossible, unhealthy beauty standards, and judgey-ass folks that read one issue of Fashion magazine while eating a croissant and suddenly they know how you’re suppose look, walk, and talk. Where your face needs to be beat to the gods or look natural (via makeup but not too much makeup, just enough makeup to make it look like you’re not wearing makeup), but not completely natural because in this world you have to look like you but not too much like you. Got it? Where your hair has to be natural, but only if it looks a specific kind of natural–else you gotta comb it..even though it is–or you need to have a bomb ass weave because anything less than …

My Hair History

Now this is a story all about when, I chopped my hair off-got a bald head. I’d like to take a minute just sit right there and I’ll tell you how I became a girl without any hair. Dah Dah-dah dah dahhhh dahhh Dahhhh. Anyways. So this was where my hair journey began. May 10, 2013 this was the length of my hair. That beautiful baby girl is mine. She’s four going on 53 now.   I then chopped my hair shorter earlier 2014 because I wanted to try something different. Short hair seemed like the thing to do.   I decided then that I was done with permed hair. Relaxer. Whatever word yall want to use to be technical. Potato, potahtoe I was done with whatever it was called. Before that however, I had pretty much just grown bored with my hair in general. This was a novel time for me because I was going through relationship changes, school, work, a whole lot of shit so it was just goodbye hair. They say when …
